There’s a deep, hidden part of you that’s dark, aggresive and capable of terrible things. It’s very tempting to lock it away, to try and be nice all the time, to ignore the resentful, angry, vengeful thoughts you sometimes get.
But if you reject and hide away from your dark side, then you’re left harmless, weak and unable to stand up for yourself. People can take advantage of you very easily.
On the other hand, you could come to terms with the fact that the world isn’t always a happy, positive place. That people aren’t always nice. And that sometimes you need to show your teeth.
Your dark side can also be a source of personal power and integrity if you accept it as a part of you and keep it under control. But how do you do that?
The best way might just be to recognise and say the truth. Notice when you become frustrated and resentful, bitter, angry or unhappy with people or circumstances. Don’t ignore or push your dark feelings aside in the name of niceness or fake morality.
Instead, use them as tools and find a way to make them useful in everyday situations.
