It’s easy to look at someone else’s life and get jealous. It might seem like they live the perfect life and you’re way behind. But how much do you really know about them?
You can’t possibly know everything about every aspect of their life, especially when you barely know them. At best, you might know a tiny bit about one or two dimensions of their life – perhaps they look great and have lots of money. What about everything else? You don’t see their loneliness, or their bad family relationships, or health issues.
What if you stop comparing yourself with other people, and instead compare yourself with who you were yesterday? Are you improving? Are you getting better? Are you working on fixing your flaws?
If the answer is yes, congratulations! You’re heading in the right direction. A few years of this and your life will look better. Much better.
If the answer is no, start now. Start small. If you’re not improving, you’re getting worse. You don’t get to be frozen in time and space. Being alive means you’re changing one way or another. Is it the change you want?
